Description:

Exhibits in an instance cause of 1685, possibly Downes v Warren; between William Downes (deceased and replaced by his executor Robert Downes) and William Warren.

Ship: Friends' Adventure of London (master William Downes) trading between London, Newfoundland and Lisbon in the 1670s and 1680s (and other ships such as the Alexander and the Dove).

Documents: a large collection of master's papers, four large account books, three small note books, bills of lading, cargo manifests, charterparty, letters of credit, loose accounts, convoy instructions, letters, instructions to buy a replacement ship from William Warren and other English merchants resident in Lisbon.

Three books transferred here from HCA 30/654, HCA 30/655 and HCA 30/664 in 2017.
