Description:

1 item extracted from ADM 1/5612. Admiralty chart of the coast of South Africa from Table Bay to Cape Agulhas. Scale: 1 inch to about 4.5 sea miles. Compass rose. Engraved by J & C Walker. Published 20 October 1851. Endorsed 'With R 35-1852'. MS additions show the correct position of magnetic North and other calculations, taken in connection with the loss of the troopship HMS Birkenhead in 1852.
