1 item extracted from SP 36/79. 'A Chart wherein are mark'd all the different Routs of P. Edward in Great Britain, and the Marches of his Army and the English. The Sieges are distinguished and the Battles that were fought in this Enterprise ...'. This map shows the voyage of Charles Edward Stuart, the Young Pretender, to Scotland; his march into England and back, his subsequent wanderings, and his return to France. Also shows the English, Hessian and Dutch fleets, patrolling frigates and other vessels. Decorated with sea monsters, gods, goddesses, and other mythological figures. Title in rococo cartouche surmounted by the Stuart Royal Arms. Two other cartouches enclose the scale bar and a dedication 'Inscribed to all the Honest' (ie Jacobites). Scale: 1 inch to 40 miles. MS additions in Latin. Drawn by J A Grante, Colonel of the Artillery to the Prince in Scotland. 'An old map of Morden was our model'. 'Sold in Mays Buildings, Covent Garden'. A reduced edition of Grante's Carte où sont tracées... Routes que S.A.R. Charles Edouard Prince de Galles a suivies dans la Grande Bretagne.
