Thomas Vaughan v. Giles Whitehall, Esq., Edwd. Jones, Esq., Edwd. Hunt, Edwd. Hill, David Oliver, Richd. Pye, Rodd Pysinch, Thos. Camell, Anne Turford, widow, John Young, Joan Beddoes, widow, Thos. Young, Thos. Badland, John Vaughan, Wm. Price, Edwd. Vaughan, David Lloyd.: Lordship or manor of Stapleton (Hereford). Touching the erection about the year 1714 of a stone wall upon the common or waste ground within the manor by Thos. Harley, Esq., late of Stapleton Castle, and now of Kinsam (Hereford), as lord of the manor "to inclose part of said waste called `Willey's Common' for his own use, with intent to exclude the commoners or those who claymed a right from any benefit in that part so inclosed." Prostration of wall and proceedings taken thereupon by Thos. Harley. Distraint upon plaintiff, made by the under-sheriff of Radnor (about June 1717), "as being one of the inhabitants of the town of Stapleton, next adjoining to the said common," and bond given by the plaintiff and Francis Vaughan (another inhabitant of the town), for their appearance to "answer the said suite or contempt in relation to the throwing down of the said wall," &c., &c. [The names of Francis Price, of Ludlow (Salop), Barnaby Delahay Berrington, late of the town of Presteign, gent., and Geo.
