Thos. Cheyney v. John Duncomb: Office of bailiwick of the manors of Cranfield (annexed to the honor of Ampthill), Elstow, Kempston, Moulsoo, Dunstable, Houghton Conquest. Bailiwick of Shidlington and Barton is part of the honor of Ampthill, and was granted under Great Seal about 15 Eliz. to Edward Wingate, Esqre., and about 39 Eliz., under Seal of Court of Exchequer to Wm. Norton, gentleman, who now holds it by grant of Jas. 1. under such Exchequer Seal. Geo. Bury was bailiff of the Queen's manor of Cranfield, under Seal of Court of Exchequer. One bailiwick in Dunstable, granted to Wm. Sadler by Queen Elizabeth under Great Seal, now exercised by Thos. Laughton. Another bailiwick in the town of Dunstable, granted by Queen Elizabeth to Mr. Johnson and then to Thos. Goodman, having "fee four pounds," &c., &c.: Bedford
