Appellant: Peter Maddox, Thomas Lyon, Edward John Massey, John Harker and Margaret Swift, all of Liverpool, John Rawlinson of Beckside, Jonathan Caddy of Chester, John Harvey, James William Beesley and Joseph Beesley, all of Liverpool, and John Appleton Beesley, Daniel Doyle and John Copple, owners of the steam tug Independence. Respondent: James Fisher of Barrow, Lancs, owner of the brig Arthur Gordon, and Henry William Schneider and Robert Hannay of Gracechurch Street, London, owners of her cargo, and also David Roberts, her master, and the crew. Subject: Collision between said vessels on 6 Mar 1860. Lower Court: High Court of Admiralty of England.
