Articles specifically aimed to: inhibit absolution by friars in cases reserved to bishops, particularly those crimes such as incest, murder, sacrilege, breaking of vows, blasphemy, sodomy, arson and adultery, and friars hearing confession in such cases, as outlined in the summae of Dom. N., Brother Raymond and Bonaventure and many others and codified by Pope Clement [IV] in his constitutions 'Quidam temere sentientes' (1265), by the bull of Pope Martin IV 'Ad fructus uberes' (1281), by the bull of Pope Innocent IV 'Et si animarum' (1252), and by the bull of Pope Nicholas [III] 'Exiit qui seminat' (1279); reassert sacerdotal authority over preaching, execution of testaments, hearing confession and burying the dead; challenge the power of the prior of Paris to hold inquisitions.
