Description:

Various record books including ships' accounts listing payments to trades people and companies for goods and services such as maintenance of weapons, ship repairs and food supplies; journals by traders giving details of the voyage such as the weather, the ship's course and personal opinions on the crew and slaves onboard; including the number of deaths among the latter. Also recorded is the number of slaves sold and comments on the company's preferences regarding the age and gender of slaves. In addition there are registers of ships' passes (equivalent to passports) issued by the Royal Navy, which include the ships' names, their commanders, tonnage, the number of guns and crew members aboard and their destination.
