These ledgers contain records of 'home' and 'duty' accounts, as well as accounts relating to the company's various forts on the west coast of Africa, and to its activities in the West Indies. They include details of payments for a wide variety of goods such as beads, iron bars, knives, bullets, sugar, muskets, carbines, ivory and redwood. There are also many payments to named individuals, including the company's agents, warehouse keepers, tradesmen and creditors, as well as gratuities to the Court, customs duties, expenses for voyages in various ships, payments to their captains and insurance costs.

T 70/638 contains entries relating to the company's agents in the West Indies, many of which refer to the delivery of slaves and the resulting payments of commission, and T 70/646 has early entries (1663) for the Royal Company of Merchant Adventurers, giving details of the numbers of slaves transported to Barbados. Some of the books are indexed.
