These are books of orders and instructions. They include requests for detailed accounts from factors abroad and current accounts from merchants in English ports, the accounts being scrutinised and errors noted. Commodities include corn, sugar, logwood and indigo. There are also reports from ships' captains on the condition of 'negroes' delivered and sold in the West Indies; reports on the state of debts owed to the Company; requests for inventories; lists of employees, their salaries and length of service; and lists of charges for the Company's upkeep of properties abroad.
