Portugal. 'Military Survey of Santarem and adjacent Country August 1808. Copy of a reconnaissance by a French Officer Dated 1801': map. Scale: 1 inch to about 200 toises. Compass indicator. A note states: 'I delivered a Copy of the Plan to General Viscount Wellington [i.e. Arthur Wellesley, afterwards the Duke of Wellington] at Cartaxo on the 6th January 1811 at which time the Head Qrs. of the French Army were at Santarem. This plan appears to be very correct'; (signed): Captain George Landmann, Royal Engineers.
