Description: |
Remarks on supplementary arguments by United States agents |
Note: | Pieces 10-15 are documents that relate to the Commission set up in accordance with the provisions of the Fifth Article of Jay's Treaty of 1794 to determine the NE frontier of the United States along the line of the Saint Croix River. This border was still in dispute at the time of the Treaty of Ghent in 1814 and the documents were pertinent under the terms of the Fifth Article of that Treaty. Consequently, they were later bound up to be included with documents deriving directly from the Treaty of Ghent and titled in accordance with the general description for this numbered series, viz, "Article 5: Treaty of Ghent." Archives of Commissions relevant to Jay's Treaty can otherwise be found in FO 304 |
