Title: Commissioners of Audit: Declared and Passed Accounts (In Books)
Description:

Accounts (including some accounts of earlier date than 1829) which had to be declared before the Chancellor of the Exchequer and also those accounts which under various statutes could be signed and passed by the Commissioners of Audit upon a Treasury warrant, such as the Sheriffs' and the Irish accounts. The series includes details of payments of first fruits.

In 1829 the commissioners adopted a new method of preparing the accounts for declaration. Instead of each being preserved in a separate roll as before, accounts were written out on sheets of paper of a uniform size to be bound together eventually in book form.
