Description:

Hemispherical forcer of cuir-bouilli, stamped with fleur de lis, and reinforced with iron bands. Basin-shaped base, flat circular lid on oak core. The lid formerly segmented by eight iron bands, one opening on a rear hinge, still extant; paired by lock at opposite side (lock missing); the other segments appear to have been jointed at the rim with hasp and locks, probably padlocks. Central iron plate with handle, with figurative stops. Inner lining on base of five unequal segments, with surviving original sewing and some indication of rivets formerly holding the iron straps used for security and reinforcement.
