Description:

Folios 210-211: enclosure with folio 186, Letter from Mongguin, commander, Amokou to Edmund Dod, 15 June 1794. Declaring loyality to Louis XVII and requesting assistance and stating that the blacks are against him. Letter from Jlotte on board Juno 25 March 1787. Instruction for Thomas Monguin, 2nd Lieutenant of Division and Commandant of the French establishment at the village of Amokou.

Folios 212-213: enclosure with folio 186, Edmund Dod, Commodore and commander in chief of HM ships and vessels employed on the coast of Africa to Captain P Finne, commmanding a detachment of the States Troops, 13 June 1794. Whereas General Vander Gryss, governor of Elmina has sent Finne to Dod, Dod orders him to act under the command of Major O'Dogherty. Second letter 16 June 1794. As his services are now not needed, he is to proceed to Elmina. Also a list of officers and men to be under the command of Major O'Dogherty on an expedition against the French settlement of Amokou.

Folios 214-215: enclosure with folio 186, Archibald Dalzel, Cape Coast Castle, to Edmund Dod, 6 June 1794. Enclosing a letter to the Dutch general and his answer willing to co-operate in the reduction of the French settlement at Amokou.

Folios 216-217: enclosure with folio 186, L V B Vander Gryss, Elmina, 6 June 1794 to A Dalzel offering his opinion on attacking Amokou. Letter from Archibald Dalzel to Edmund Dod, 7 June 1794. Dalzel now says that the object of the expedition may be fulfilled without the assistance of the Dutch but the refusing of their assistance should be hadled delicately in case their help was needed in the future.

Folios 218-219: enclosure with folio 186, Archibald Dalzel, Cape Coast Castle to Edmund Dod, 9 June 1794. The Dutch general at Emina intends to send a detachment of State troops to assist in the expedition against Amokou and intends to send them in canoes direct on board HMS Dictator. Letter from John Gordon, Annamaboe Road to Edmund Dod, 13 June 1794. Enclosing a letter from Dalzel about use of Cabboceers to sound out the inclination of the blacks at Amokou towards the French. Letter from Dalzel, Cape Coast Castle to John Gordon. Re the use of hostage Cabboceers for the neutrality of the natives and whether to land troops on Amokou.

Folios 220-221: enclosure with folio 186, Edmund Dod, HMS Dictator, Elmina Road to L V B Vande Gryss, Director General, Elmina Castle. 12 June 1794. Enclosing a letter to Captain Overfelt, commander of the Union frigate claiming for Dod, Dod's officers and ships company to share with the Dutch Union frigate rthe prize for the Swedish ship boarded and seized by Captain Overfelt laden with French goods. If he doesn't agree, he will appeal to their High Mightiness and the Prince of Orange.

Folios 222-223: enclosure with folio 186, Captain Overfelt commander of the Union Dutch frigate to Edmund Dod, Elmina, 12 June 1794. Translation from Dutch into French [?]. Also letter from L V B Vande Gryss, Elmina Castle, to Edmund Dod 12 June 1794. It is not his resposibility to judge on sharing the prize and is forwarding the letter to the States, his master.

Folios 224-225: enclosure with folio 186, Edmund Dod, HMS Dictator off Elmina Fort, 11 June 1794 to Captain Overfelt, Commander of the Dutch frigate Union, Elmina Road. He states his intention to claim the sharing the prize of the Swedish ship. Letter from Edmund Dod to Captain Overfelt, 12 June 1794. If he refuses to share the prize he will refer to the English King who will refer the matter to Prince of Orange and demands to see the papers of the Swedish ship, Fadernes Landet, to see what the cargo was.

Folio 226: enclosure with folio 186. Slip of papre - ccopies of papers relative to the French settlement of Amokou on the coast of Africa.
