Upon the establishment of the Department for National Heritage in 1992, responsibility for film was transferred from the Department for Trade. Under the responsibility of the Department for National Heritage and subsequently the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, the same prefix (FV, Film and Video) was utilised, as had been done previously in the Department for Trade.
