Administrative / biographical background:

The National Assessment Agency (NAA) was officially launched in April 2004 and took over the delivery and administration of the national curriculum tests in England, previously undertaken by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) to whom they became accountable as a subsidiary unit. In December 2008 QCA announced it was abolishing the NAA.
