Captured ship: L'Aimable Julie of Bordeaux (master Antoine Gaudriq or Antoine Gaudrig, Antoine Gaudry succeeding on the death of the former master, Jean Morain or Jean Morin, Jean Maurain).

History: a French merchant ship with cargo of sugar, coffee, indigo and cotton, on voyage from Port-au-Prince, St Domingue, to Bordeaux, captured along with La Marie Esther (François Rullier) by the British privateer Anson, captain Robert Wapshutt, on 2 August 1756 and taken into Bristol. Documents: allegation; examinations; ship's papers, including bills of lading, acquit à caution (bond-note), muster roll; attestation as to state of cargo; 13 food tickets on plain paper; collection of c 30 letters and papers belonging to the former master, Jean Morain; bundle of c 100 letters (in wrapper addressed to Doctors' Commons) mostly addressed to St Domingue; (61 playing cards, mostly wth memoranda written on the back converting them into token currency or food tickets [now extracted to HCA 65/19])
