Administrative / biographical background:

The Ministry of Aviation Controllerate of Air Traffic Control Services was created in 1965 from parts of the Aviation Navigational Services Division. It was transferred to the Board of Trade in 1968 and then formed part of the new Civil Aviation Authority in 1972.
