Folios 39-40. Earl of Cromartie to Colonel Fraser at Inveralachy, requesting that he convince his men to march to Cromartie's location, notwithstanding the question of their [lack of?] pay. Dated at 6 April 1746 at Dunrobin [Castle, Sutherland].

Folio 41. Lord Balermino to Lord Nairne. Request for the return of Kilbraick's horse. Dated 2 March 1746 at Elgin [Fife, Morayshire].

Folio 42. Arrears due to grenadiers of earl of Kilmarnock, with sums owed, naming: Donald MacQueen, Andw [Andrew] Smith, Jas [James] Davidson, Daniel McBain, Willm [William] Baird, Andw [Andrew] Johnston.

Folio 43. Earl of Kilmarnock to [unknown]. Recommending the bearer, an informant, with information gained from a messenger of Mr Hushin's, suggesting that 'the pass at Falkirk [Stirlingshire] is not yet lost'. Dated 14 January 1746 at Stirling [Stirlingshire].

Folio 44. Earl of Cromartie to Colonel [John Roy] Stuart, requesting that he advance swiftly to Bricken [Brichen?], in accordance with a request from Lord George. With seal. Dated 5 February 1746 at Kilimuir [Inverness-shire, Ross and Cromarty].

Folios 45-46. Earl of Cromartie to John Murray [of Broughton], secretary to the 'Prince of Wales' [Charles Edward Stuart], enclosing intelligence [not filed here], and advising that he had put the 'Water of Connon [the River Conon] between us and the enemy'. With seal. Dated 1 March 1746 at Dingwall [Ross and Cromarty].

Folio 47. Earl of Cromartie's orders to Lord Loudon's army for the surrender of arms at Dornoch [Sutherland]. Dated 24 March 1746 at 'the little ferry' [Littleferry, Sutherland].

Folio 48. Earl of Cromartie's orders for Colonel Fraser to take his regiment to from Dornoch [Sutherland] to Tain [Ross and Cromarty], to await orders there, and to 'furnish whatever numbers are wanting to Mr Petrie'. Dated 24 March 1746 at 'the little ferry' [Littleferry, Sutherland].

Folio 49. Earl of Cromartie's demand for the suspension of hostilities in Sutherland, and the surrender of arms at Dornoch [Sutherland]. Dated 25 March 1746 at Dunrobin [Castle, Sutherland].

Folio 50. Earl of Cromartie to Lord McLeod [Macleod, John Mackenzie], at Dunbeath, Caithness, requesting that his forces 'make all possible despatch to join 'His R H' [Charles Edward Stuart] as it is very probable his Highness will very soon march south', and advising of the disarmament of Sutherland. Dated 28 March 1746 at Tarbathouse [Tarbat House, near Milton, Ross and Cromarty].

Folio 51-52. Earl of Cromartie to his son Lord MacLeod [John Mackenzie], referring to correspondence with Lord Reay about capture of French ships; urging Caithness force to march south; mentioning an order for men to go to the Orkney [islands] and two Lochbroom [Ross and Cromarty] companies; advising that [the Duke of] Cumberland is destroying forage and provisions around Aberdeen [Aberdeenshire]; and that the French were reported to have landed in England. Dated 31 March 1746 at Tain [Ross and Cromarty].

Folio 53. Earl of Cromartie [to unknown, Lord Reay?] repeating his warning first conveyed in a letter from Lerg [Lairg, Sutherland?] to disarm Sutherland, advising that he had orders for 'burning their houses, destroying their cattle and putting themselves to the sword'. Dated 2 April 1746 at Dunrobin [Castle, Sutherland].

Folio 54. Cover for Earl of Cromartie to Lord Reay.

Folio 55. Earl of Cromartie's proposal to allow McLeods or MacDonalds either to join the Pretender's [Charles Edward Stuart's] army or to lay down their arms and return home.

Folio 56. Earl of Cromartie to his son [John Mackenzie] Lord Macleod, with orders to join the prince's [Charles Edward Stuart's] army before it marches south. Enclosing a letter for James Stuart [not filed here]. With seal. Dated at Dunrobin [Castle, Sutherland].
