Administrative / biographical background:

The Office Services and Supply Department handled home accommodation, translation services, records management and registration transport, office services, and the editing and distribution of office instructions and circulars for the Diplomatic Service.

On the formation of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in October 1968, the Diplomatic Service Administration Office was abolished, and the functions of the Office Services and Supply Department passed directly to the new office. The work of the department passed to an Accommodation and Services Department in 1971.
