Title: Government Code and Cypher School: Air Section: Reports based on Japanese Army Air Force Decrypts
Description:

This series consists of reports by the Air Sections based on Japanese army air force decrypts. They contain information on Japanese army air force operational and administrative matters.

Note: The records in this series were retained by the department under s.3(4) of the Public Records Act 1958, until it was decided that they could be made available to the public. The records were open from the date of transfer to the PRO.
Date: 1943-1946
Arrangement:

The arrangement of records in this series is, where possible, by numbered series of reports as produced by the Government Code and Cypher School. However, because the reports were released to the PRO over a number of transfers, not all the numbered series run in sequence. The numbered reports run as follows where they are split throughout the series:

  • MASJ reports, pieces 1-12; 15-22; 24-40.
  • JEB reports, pieces 83-85; 111-121; 141-143.
  • JAFO reports, pieces 86-93; 96-110.

All other numbered reports (AJMI, LIZ, JES, AISS, WEC, JAAG/A, JIL, EFC/JAS and DEC reports) appear in a single run of piece numbers. The series also includes a number of general un-numbered reports and logbooks derived from Japanese Army Air Force decrypts.
