Title: LETTERS FROM ADMIRALS ETC. - NORTH SEA
Description:

The first volume contains correspondence from Admiral Sir George Byng, subsequently Lord Torrington, from the Baltic, Mediterranean and elsewhere, chiefly 1717-1729; there are also some letters from Admiral Aylmer in 1716 and Admiral Balchen in 1740, in each case conveying the King across the Channel. ADM 1/519-520 are from successive commanders-in-chief at the Nore, and from the senior officers at Leith and of various cruising squadrons in the North Sea. From 1794 these reports are entirely from Commanders-in-Chief North Sea and their subordinates, based in or off various ports, including Ramsgate, Yarmouth and Leith. ADM 12/1-4 is an index to ships mentioned in flag officers' reports, 1711-1793.
