These letters from the commanders-in-chief of the North American squadron begin soon after the taking of Louisbourg in 1745. Further correspondence concerning that expedition is in ADM 1/3817. From 1816 the station came under Halifax, and from 1831 under Jamaica. ADM 12/1-4 is an index to ships mentioned in flag officers' reports, 1711-1793.
