These reports were made by the senior officers of the British squadron based in the river Tagus, or (at some periods) at Gibraltar, concerning naval operations on the Atlantic coasts of Spain and Portugal. ADM 1/375 contains copies of correspondence between the Admiralty, the Foreign Office, the British ambassador in Lisbon and the naval commander-in-chief, concerning the work of the squadron during the Portuguese civil war.
