The first two pieces of this section contain letters from Admiral Sir John Norris between 1711 and 1727, during which period he commanded at various times squadrons in the Mediterranean, the Baltic, the North Sea, the Downs, and the Channel, besides periods on half pay. The remaining pieces are reports from successive commanders-in-chief in the Baltic from 1801 to 1819. Reports from Admiral Lord Torrington, commanding in the Baltic in 1717, are in ADM 1/518. ADM 12/1-4 is an index to ships mentioned in flag officers' reports, 1711-1793.
