Description:

Folio 18. Draft letter from the Poor Law Board to William E Goodacre, Clerk to the Guardians of the Mansfield Poor Law Union, acknowledging a letter, dated 7 March 1862, together with the valuation of the parish of Pleasley.

The Board state that they return the valuation [not included] and express their approval of it. They state, however, that such approval has no reference, either to the correctness of the measurement or the value assigned to the several parcels of property specified in such valuation, but as these and similar points, the Board confide in the competent skill and judgement of the person appointed to the office of valuer. By such approval the Board state that they only declare that the requirements of the Parochial Assessments Act, so far as respects the form of the document, have been complied with and that, in their opinion, the valuation may be advantageously used for the purpose for which it is intended.
