Printed fragment on the state of Europe, 1707. Subjects include: Trade and Commerce; shipping; the current situation in France and the birth of Prince Frederick Louis to the Electoral Princess of Hanover [Caroline of Ansbach] and Prince George of Hanover [future King George II]. Enclosure:

Manuscript sermon by Humfrey Michel, expounding his belief that James Francis Edward Stuart cannot be a legitimate son of James II; mentions story of substitute baby being brought to Mary of Modena's bed in a warming pan. Draws similarities between the reign of King George and the life of Jesus. Decries, amongst others, conventicles, Jews, Presbyterians, Independents, and Anabaptists as 'King-killing' 'Audacious Dogs'. Condemns 'Popish' conspiracies: 'Hatched by King Belzebub's [Beelzebub] Privy Council in Hell!'

Possibly seized at the time of the 1715 Jacobite rebellion.
