Description:

This series contains copies of S prefix statistical reports and strength returns which were printed and circulated each month during the Second World War by Adjutant General (Statistics) Branch. Subjects include battle casualties, the anti-aircraft defence of Great Britain, the release of coal-miners from the army, the distribution of different nationalities and religious groups within the army, strength returns from theatres of war and garrisons, the Auxiliary Territorial Service and an age profile of the army.

Although not a complete collection, these papers provide a source of statistical data on the army during the Second World War
