Description:

Captured ship: Ann Snow of Bristol (master Charles Finlay).

History: an English merchant ship (50 tons) bound from Bristol to Africa and America [a slaving voyage?], laden with bale goods, iron bars, copper rods, muskets and gunpowder; taken on 26 March 1745 in latitude 46ยบ by six French men-of-war, and despatched under the English master (after swearing an oath) to a French or neutral port with 115 English prisoners of war taken from the captured English ships Barham Frigate (master Hugh Morecraft) and Hannah and Sophia (Edward Lee master); retaken on 29 March 1745 en route to St Malo by Admiral Mathews' squadron, and sent into Plymouth.
