Description:

Captured ship: L'Aimable Jeanne of Bordeaux (master Francois Castaignet Mingeon).

History: a French merchant ship (250 tons, 14 carriage guns, 42 men, 5 pasengers), bound from Saint Domingue and Havana, laden with sugar, indigo, mahogany plank, Spanish snuff, hides, silk stockings, waistcoats and saddle cloths, and with 5 Spanish merchants on board from Havana; taken on 6 April 1745 in latitude 46ยบ2 minutes, about 40 leagues off Ushant by HMS Prince Frederick (Harry Norris commanding), and HMS Captain (Thomas Griffin commanding) in sight of five other warships of the squadron under Vice Admiral Martin, and brought into Plymouth.
