Administrative / biographical background:

The British Council has been represented in Croatia since 1991. Prior to this, activities in Croatia were the responsibility of the British Council’s Representative in Yugoslavia. The first office (in Belgrade) opened in 1939, and a regional office was opened in Zagreb in the mid-1940s. Records relating to Yugoslavia can be found in BW 66.
