Description:

Daniel GOULOOZE, aliases GOUWLOOZE, Daniel DANN, Daniel DAAN. Dutch. Formerly an anarchist, in 1925 GOULOOZE joined the Dutch Communist Party and in 1926 made the first of several visits to the USSR on behalf of a communist youth organisation. In 1928 he was a delegate to a meeting of the International Executive Committee of Workers' International Relief and in the early 1930s was arrested in connection with a plot to assassinate the Queen of the Netherlands. In 1934 he was Editor of 'De Jonge Arbeider' (The Young Worker). In the early 1940s, under the name DAAN, he was a radio operator in Holland for the 'HILDA' group of the Soviet Rote Kapelle spy ring until arrested by the Gestapo in 1943
