Also includes some files of the earlier E (Establishments) file series (T 162), which were re-registered in the ED series in 1948.

The Establishment Departmental (ED) Division was set up in April 1938 and continued until the Treasury reorganisation of 1962 when ED Division was abolished, its work being divided between other divisions: pay and conditions of service went to the Civil Pay (CP) Division; complementing went to the Establishments Complementing (EC) Division.
