Description:

High Court of Admiralty.

Captured ship: Le Courier de Cayenne (master Pierre Faux).

History: a French merchant ship (100 tons, 4 guns, 11 men), bound from Cayenne to Bordeaux, laden with sugar, roucou, coffee, spirits, oil cloth, thread and cotton; taken on 22 October 1778 in latitude 45°58 N', longitude 7°30'W from London by the privateer Shaftesbury (John Horsford commanding), and brought into Weymouth.

Court papers: 1-21; Ship's papers: 22-150. [These are interim paper numbers, and are likely to change once more fully catalogued].
