Description:

British New York Vice-Admiralty Court.

Captured ship: Abigail of Dartmouth (master Thomas Eskridge or Escridge).

History: an American merchant ship (schooner, 70 tons, 7 men), bound from Dartmouth, Massachusetts to Charleston, South Carolina in ballast; taken on 2 March 1779 off Martha's Vineyard by the privateer Tryon sloop (Francis Lane commanding), and brought into New York.
