Folio(s) 18-19. Appointment form for Mary Ann Burman as schoolmistress.The form shows Burman, late of Birmingham, [Warwickshire], had been a schoolmistress in the Alcester Poor Law Union, and also at the National School, Birmingham. She left her previous post in 1844 due to the illness of her late father. The salary to be determined by the certificate of Her Majestys Inspector of Schools.

The post became vacant on account of the 'inefficiency' of Miss Underwood [Matilda Underwood] the then present schoolmistress.

The form is signed by Henry Saunders, Clerk to the Guardians of the Kidderminster Poor Law Union and Mary Ann Burman.

Annotated: write to Alcester for her character and for the cause of her resignation. Regarding the salary, call attention to the remarks on the previous letter 7573/1850 regarding the appointment of the schoolmaster. State the salary suggested is £20.

Also annotated: that Miss Burman's resignation from Alcester does not seem to have been reported.
