William SHERIDAN, alias Wilhelm SILBER: Austrian, British / Gertrude SHERIDAN, aliases SILBER, HAYER, HAJEK: Austrian, British. William SHERIDAN arrived in UK as a refugee in 1939, having been engaged in Communist and Anti-Nazi activity in pre war Germany, Austria and Czechoslovakia. He became an active member of the Communist Party of Great Britain (CPGB). His wife, also very active in the Communist Party of Great Britain (CPGB), had a similar background.
