Title: British Transport Historical Records: Railway Hotels: Miscellanea
Description:

Booklets, brochures etc, of various hotels owned and operated by the Caledonian; Furness; Great Northern; Great Western; London, Midland and Scottish; Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire; Midland; North British; and South Eastern railway companies.

Date: 1854-1969
Arrangement:

The greater part of this small collection was formerly classified under Hotels Executive: Miscellaneous Books and Records (HOT 4/1-53). When the Public Record Office took over custody of BTHR however it was discovered that no records of the Hotels Executive or its successor bodies had been transferred and thus the title was ambiguous. As a result, and to conform with the rearrangement of series arising from reclassification, HOT 4 was abolished; the pre 1948 material was reclassified Hotels, and the residual post 1948 material added to a few unclassified items of a similar nature and placed in the series AN 109, British Railways Hotel and Catering Services. Extensive additions have now been made to AN 109 which include pre-1948 material.
