London and North Eastern Railway Company, 1923-1947

Physical description: 360 file(s)
Administrative / biographical background:

In the case of railways being jointly owned, the name of the appropriate committee is included in the description. These committees usually kept their pre-grouping names. Where the joint committee consisted only of companies that became constituents of the LNER, the committee is not mentioned as it would no longer be in existence after the Grouping.

After nationalisation, sections of railway transfered to the control of the Eastern Region have been added to these volumes and are included in this series. Conversely, diagrams of the lines transfered from Eastern Region to other regions were removed and given to the appropriate engineer.
