Incorporated under act of 17 and 18 Vic, cap.140 (July 1854) as Bradford, Wakefield and Leeds Railway Company. By West Yorkshire Railway Act, 21st July 1863, name of company was changed to West Yorkshire Railway Company. West Yorkshire Railway Company was amalgamated with Great Northern Railway Company under act of 5th July 1865. Great Northern Railway Company became part of London and North Eastern Railway Company from 1st January 1923 under North Eastern, Eastern and East Scottish Group Amalgamation Scheme 1922 dated 30th December 1922.
