Incorporated as Strabane, Raphoe & Convoy Railway Company under act of 14th August 1903. Under Section 55 of Strabane, Raphoe & Convoy Railway (Extension to Letterkenny) Act of 15th August 1904, name of Company was changed to Strabane & Letterkenny Railway Company. By Agreement dated 5th April 1904, line was worked by Great Northern Railway Company (Ireland).

By virtue of Great Northern (Ireland) and Midland Railways Act 4th August 1906, Joint Committee comprising representatives of Great Northern Railway (Ireland) and Midland railway companies was constituted and incorporated as body corporate under name of "County Donegal Railways Joint Committee" and working of Strabane & Letterkenny Railway Company then passed to this Joint Committee.

Midland Railway Company became part of London Midland & Scottish Railway Company as from 1st January 1923 under North Western, Midland & West Scottish Group Amalgamation Scheme 1922 dated 30th December 1922, and rights and duties of London Midland & Scottish Railway in this Joint Committee vested in British Transport Commission as from 1st January 1948 when London Midland & Scottish Railway became vested in British Transport Commission under Transport Act 1947.
