Under London and North Western Railway (New Works and Additional Powers) Act 23rd July 1866, Stockport, Disley and Whaley Bridge Railway Company and London and North Western Railway Company were authorised to agree to transfer of undertaking to London and North Western Railway Company and for Stockport, Disley and Whaley Bridge Railway Company to be dissolved. London and North Western Railway Company was vested in London Midland and Scottish Railway Company under North Western, Midland and West Scottish Group Amalgamation Scheme 1922 dated 30th December 1922.
