Description:

Folios 493-494: Charles Craven, [Sea Fencibles], Chatham. Captain Jeffrey Raigersfield Commanding the Sea Fencibles at Maidstone, having (without success) responded to the Deputy Lieutenants and Magistrates of that place the opinion of the Admiralty Solicitor Mr Bicknell, that Sea Fencibles are exempt from serving in the Militia, under the Acts of the [legal clauses stated]. I enclose a letter sent to me with a copy of Mr Sergeant Bayley's opinion. Request direction.
