Description:

Folios 369-370: William Charleton, Regulating Captain, North Shields. Reply to letter dated 2 June in the case of Lancelot Williamson said to be Mate of the Spring, whose discharge has been applied for by Thomas Ferguson. He was impressed at South Shields on 24 October 1805 having been four and a half years at sea and illegally appointed Mate, he being an apprentice. The Master was allowed 14 days to provide proof of him being Mate but he did not do so.

Folios 371-372: enclosure with folios 369-370. Letter dated 27 May 1806 by Thomas Ferguson, 3 George Yard, Lombard Street, to the Admiralty. On 2 December 1805 I applied for the discharge of Lancelot Williamson, Mate of the ship Spring (Copy attached) The said mate now being on HMS Resistance at Portsmouth.

Folios 373-374: enclosure with folios 369-370. Letter dated 2 December 1806 by Thomas Ferguson, 3 George Yard, Lombard Street, to the Admiralty. That Lancelot Williamson Mate of the ship Spring was impressed although protected by affidavit and bona fide constituted Mate by having signed the Ships Articles. Request he be discharged.

Folio 375: enclosure with folios 369-370: Affidavit that Henry Wardle made Oath as Master of the Spring of Sunderland that Lancelot Williamson was Chief Mate. Before Richard Wallis Justice of the Peace, Parsonage. Dated 27 July 1805.
