Incorporated by act of 14th July 1864. By Macclesfield, Bollington and Marple Committee Act of 25th May 1871, company was dissolved and vested in North Stafford and Great Central Railways Committee, four members to be appointed by each Company, name of Railway henceforward to be known as "Macclesfield Committee". Under Great Central Railway Act of 26th July 1907 however name was changed to "Great Central and North Staffordshire Railway Committee". Under 3rd Schedule to Transport Act 1947 this committee passed into British Transport Commission
