Originally projected in March 1844 as London and Worcester and Rugby and Oxford Railway Company and sponsored by London and Birmingham Railway Company. Name was changed to London, Worcester and South Staffordshire Railway Company per minute of Provisional Committee dated 4th February 1845. Bill did not pass through Parliament (see minutes 12.6.1843 and 6.8.1845) and distribution of remaining assets among scripholders was completed by October 1846.
