This committee was established under Section 43 of London and North Western Railway Act of 15th July 1867 to manage a part of Rhymney Railway Company line.

Rhymney Railway Company was amalgamated with Great Western Railway Company as from 1st January 1922 under Great Western Railway (Western Group) Preliminary Amalgamation Scheme 25th March 1922, and London and North Western and Rhymney Railways Joint Committee became London and North Western and Great Western Railways Joint Committee, subsequently becoming London Midland and Scottish and Great Western Railways Joint Committee London and North Western and Rhymney Section as from 1st January 1923. This committee ceased on nationalisation of railways 1st January 1948 under Transport Act 1947.
