By Manchester and Leeds Railway Act of 27th July 1846, Liverpool and Bury Railway Company was vested in Manchester and Leeds Railway Company.

By Manchester and Leeds Railway Act No.3 of 9th July 1847, various companies were amalgamated with Manchester and Leeds Railway Company and name of company changed to Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company.

Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company was amalgamated with London and North Western Railway Company (under latter title) as from 1st January 1922 by London and North Western and Lancashire and Yorkshire railway companies' Amalgamation Scheme 1921 dated 20th December 1921. London and North Western Railway Company was amalgamated into London Midland and Scottish Railway Company as from 1st January 1923 under North Western, Midland and West Scottish Group Amalgamation Scheme 1922 dated 30th December 1922.
