Incorporated under act of 22nd June 1825 as "Liskeard and Looe Union Canal Company".

By Liskeard and Looe Railway Act, 11th May 1858, a railway was authorised in substitution for a canal, and by section 39 of Liskeard and Looe Railway (Extension) Act of 6th July 1895, name was changed to "Liskeard and Looe Railway Company".

Line was worked by Liskeard and Caradon Railway Company under agreement, and by Great Western Railway Company as from 1st January 1909 under agreement dated 8th August 1907, confirmed by section 4 of Great Western Liskeard and Looe and Liskeard and Caradon Railways Act 25th May 1909.

Company was absorbed into Great Western Railway Company as from 1st January 1923 by Railways Act 19th August 1921, and Great Western Railway (Western Group) Preliminary Absorption Scheme (No.3) 1922 dated 19th January 1923.
